OCTOBER 27, 2021 - Broken Yolk Cafe
Today, sixteen members attended, with eight bringing 16 pieces for critique.
Phaya welcomed Ly to the group, and also Frank, who made a brief visit to check us out. Flyers were circulated for the upcoming Sistine Chapel and Van Gogh virtual tours. The OMA Tiny Art fundraising program was discussed, and members were encouraged to participate.
It was agreed that there would be NO meeting on November 24th. It was also agreed that we would have a "Christmas Party" meeting on December 22nd. Phaya will check on availability of the same Mexican Restaurant where we held previous Christmas gatherings.
Pico reported that the Oceanside Library did not make the entrance exhibit cabinet available for us to show sculpture pieces during this month's art show. The next meeting at the Broken Yolk is Wednesday November 10th.

Fourteen members gathered today, with six bringing eleven paintings and two sculptures for showing or critique.
Congratulations to Phaya on her Featured Artist exhibit at COAL and the sale of 8 of the pieces. If you wish to see the pieces sold, and they are very different from her usual work, and worth seeing you need to visit the Gallery by Saturday as the buyer is picking them up then.
Pico advised that the Oceanside Library would be moving artwork currently at the Mission Branch to the main Library on Friday this week. Anyone who wants to swap out, or add pieces for the downtown show should deliver the artwork to the Mission Library by Thursday. The usual required information should be provided with any new pieces. Pico will advise the schedule for delivery.of sculptures for the show.
Phaya reminded the group that the monthly Zoom meeting is this coming Monday, October 18th at 10 am. She also reminded that jazzercise entries are due November 7th.
The next in-person meeting at the Broken Yolk is Wednesday, October 27th at 9:45 am.

Once again, twelve members attended today. Five art pieces were shown and discussed.
Phaya open-end the meeting by wishing Helen a Happy Birthday. Champagne and cake were served.
Pico reported that 36 AGNC art pieces are now on exhibit at the Oceanside Mission Library. He also reported that the upstairs glass exhibition cases at the Main Library have been removed. This means that only the case in the Library Entrance will be available for sculptures when our show moves there in November.
The COAL Open Show reception is this Sunday, September 5 from 3-5pm. Three AGNC members have pieces accepted. Unfortunately Eileen's sculpture was damaged while being moved into the Gallery. Phaya will be the Featured Artist at COAL during October.

AUGUST 25, 2021 - Broken Yolk Cafe (by Barry Robson)
Twelve members gathered today with five bringing work for discussion and critique.
Phaya confirmed final day submittals for the upcoming exhibit at the Oceanside Mission Library is Friday September 3rd. Please send Phaya details of your submittals so she can provide the library with a comprehensive list to be placed at the library reception desk during the show. The library has still to confirm if the show will run for 6 weeks. Art will automatically be transferred to the Downtown Main Library for the exhibit there.
Several members have had art accepted into the COAL Open Show starting September 1st Reception is scheduled for September 5.

Twelve members gathered today with four bringing work for discussion and critique. The works included water color, acrylic, mixed media, and metal sculpture. Phaya welcomed new member Mary Lou who works in metal sculpture, also Richard and Sandy back from an extended stay in Arizona.
Our San Marcos Community Center exhibition will last through the end of August. Art work should be picked up between August 23 and 26 (Monday - Thursday) 10am to 4pm. Possible AGNC exhibitions at the Mission and Downtown libraries in September and October respectively still need to be confirmed. Pico will check ASAP.
Phaya told the meeting about the New Carlsbad City Pop Up art program starting this week. Check the City website for details.

Phaya advised that in future Zoom meetings will be held once a month on the third Monday of each month at 10am. Following a short discussion it was decided to continue in-person meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Broken Yolk at 9:45 am for at least through the end of August. She encouraged participation in the Zoom meetings in addition to the in-person gatherings.
Our San Marcos Community Center exhibition will last through the end of August. Pick up of paintings will probably be during the week before Labor Day. Phaya will confirm.
Pico advised that the Oceanside Library had contacted him regarding an AGNC exhibition at the Mission and Downtown libraries in September and October respectively. All were in favor of this schedule and Pico will confirm with the Library, and advise submittal dates..
Several members recommended the 20 Woman Artists show currently at OMA. It closes August 1. COAL Open Show submittals due by Aug 10 through Online Juried Shows.

Ten members gathered today with five bringing art work for an enthusiastic discussion and critique. All present were thrilled to be back meeting in person and voted to return to weekly in person meetings in August. It was felt that the in person critiques were more productive than online ones. One member suggested we have one zoom meeting per month so that our foreign and distant members could still participate.
Our San Marcos Community Center exhibition will last through the end of August. After a short discussion regarding having a reception for the members and friends at the exhibition in August, a vote was taken: Yes (4) and No (5).

NEW: JUNE 9, 2021 UPDATE - Now that restrictions are being lifted and larger groups are able to assemble, we will begin a hybrid schedule (alternating weeks) of two Zoom meetings and two in-person meetings monthly. The in-person meetings will officially begin on Wednesday mornings, 9:45 a.m. at the Broken Yolk restaurant on Vista Way in Oceanside on June 23rd. The next scheduled Zoom meeting is Friday, June 18th at 10 A.M.
MAY 12, 2020 - Meeting #1 (by Barry Robson)
Several members had expressed their wish that we could have a virtual meeting to share work, since it's been over a month that we got together. Joan volunteered to host a Zoom meeting to see if this was an option during the Covid-19 restrictions.
Fourteen members attended, and the Zoom interface proved to be quite user-friendly. Joan gave a quick tutorial on how the program works, and helped resolve some problems members had on their individual computer, tablet, phone, etc. Nine pieces of art were shown for comments.
Barry advised that The Front Porch Gallery has a call for entries (on Online Juried Shows) for an August 9 to September 29 show. Entries are due June 26th, and the fee is $35 for up to three entries.
Everyone agreed we should continue meeting on Zoom once a week. Future meetings will be on Fridays at 9am, starting on May 22, and Joan will send out link invitations early in the week. Please send jpeg photos (to Joan - [email protected]) of works you'd like to discuss by Wednesday, May 20, so she can prepare a slide show for the Friday meeting. Meetings will generally last 40 minutes. Major thanks to Joan for taking this on - we ALL appreciate it.

Discussion: 1) Welcome to Andrew. 2) Congratulations to Joan on her First Place ribbon, and Phaya on her Second Place ribbon at the NCAG (formerly COAL) Members Show. 3) A group visit to the Fallbrook Watercolor Show was suggested. Phaya will contact the gallery to see if there is a preferred day for group visits. We will discuss this again next week.
Reminders: OMA Art Alliance has put out a call for entries for the Oceanside Library READS Permanent Collection with entries due by March 22nd. Details are on the Bulletin Board page.

Reminders: 1) San Marcos Community Center Juried Show Opens March 2nd. 3) Bobbi Hirchkoff's Open Studio and Garden Tour is March 14.
Discussion: 1) Phaya was one of the judges at the San Marcos Juried show and shared that the judges gave considerable attention to framing of the pieces - both paintings and photography. 2) Cindy gave a quick review of CDC recommendations for preparing for a viral epidemic. [Photo credit to Joy]
