Wow - 24 stalwarts turned out in the rain; one even had a raincoat. Three artists showed paintings, and three sculptors showed wood and feathered pieces. It was great to see Bonnie back with us, and hope she continues to feel better and can come regularly.
Phaya was exuberant in her praise of Sean's Encinitas exhibit and the Open House hosted by Mark and Annette. Mark will be offering a video link of the occasion.
Discussion: (1) No members of the group had pieces accepted for the Escondido Summation exhibition. (2) Our new Featured Artist in January will be Barry. (3) Sad news -- Grandma's will be closing at the end of January as the church is planning to remodel the building. We will have to find a new meeting location.

JULY 17, 2019 - Grandma's/Oceana (by Barry Robson)
Fourteen members turned out today, with eight showing high quality work again. Shirley showed the pastel portrait that won her third place at the Del Mar Fair.
Several members expressed concerns regarding our current show at the Oceanside Mission Library. The major concern was the handling of the art work before and during hanging. While it was agreed that the venue is not ideal due to the height of the pieces and the difficulty of reading the title cards, it gave AGNC a venue to exhibit, and it supported the efforts of the library to promote local art. Phaya will discuss our concerns with the library staff to improve future shows, especially in regard to handling of the art when transferring to the downtown library at the end of the month.
The Member page is up and running, thanks to Joan. It includes a Member List and a group photo. It was decided that for future group photos, the headshots will not be added; instead, those missing will be listed as "Not pictured."

Twenty-one members and guests today with seven showing new and in progress work. Great stuff as always.
Reminders for the week included: Final pick-up of pieces from San Marcos Community Center by Friday, 5th July; OMA Six Word photograph submissions due by 7th July; COAL Open Show entries are through online juried process this time, due by July 17th; Vista Visions Exhibition Opening Reception is August 3rd (Phaya, Bonnie, and Joy participating).
Jaime, the current Featured Artist (see Featured Artist Page) offered to hold an Open House/Studio so that members can view his large art portfolio. He will discuss a date later, after he has recovered from recent foot surgery. Thanks, Jaime.
Other business: (1) Phaya reminded us that when we consider inviting artists to join the group, we should take into account not only their talents, but also their compatibility with our objectives. They should be willing to participate fully in meetings, shows, etc. (2) Best wishes to Chris Ames in Italy for a speedy recovery from eye surgery so she can get back to painting her fabulous pieces. (3) One AGNC Banner approximately 2 ft by 4 ft will be purchased for use during future group shows. Cost approximately $30.

Phaya reminded the group of upcoming deadlines including San Marcos pickup, Mission Library drop-off, COAL Open show, and OMA call for art. See Bulletin and Galleries pages for details.
Sean and Joan were given the go-ahead to finalize business cards and assemble four 11x14 framed group logos to display at future shows. Sean will research banner specifics. Members will collect to reimburse them.
