NEWS FROM LAURIE - FEBRUARY, 2024
LAURIE began AGNC membership on Zoom in April 2023 and always has multiple works to share. Through collaboration and critiques, as well as involvement in community art classes and exhibits at local venues, there is no question that her new works show maturity and flare. Be sure to check out her latest exhibit at the Forms and Figures Exhibition at Exhibizone, February 17-April 17, 2024, which is dedicated to showcasing the diverse ways in which artists around the world interpret and portray humans, animals, objects, and abstract forms and figures. Laurie's painting, "Horses" - which she shared in our Zoom meeting on February 19 - was juried in, and is showcased and offered for sale, along with her Bio. [Click image to enlarge] |

NCAG/COAL FEATURED ARTIST, JUNE 2022 - Joan Yap
Once again, an AGNC member has been honored at the North Coastal Art Gallery in Carlsbad - our colleague, Joan, who poses beside her Best of Show piece, "Amish Child on Train."
The Artist's Statement reads: Joan's exhibit represents the various stages of her art career: Earlier works are mainly pen and ink drawings using the crosshatching technique; sometimes with a hint of watercolor for emphasis. She later explored watercolor and oil painting, and currently has developed a passion for photography and digital art. Her photographs capture the lighting and mood of a particular setting or unique moment; and with the use of photo-editing software, her digital art transforms images into abstract colors, lines and shapes. |

NCAG-COAL FEATURED ARTIST, October 2021 - Phaya Gifford
MIXED MEDIA ARTIST: Turning to art after she retired from the corporate world, Phaya strives for freedom of expression, and continually experiments with collage materials, textural elements, and multiple ways to apply paints and other mediums to the artistic experience. Color, line, shape, pattern, and texture are the foremost sources of inspiration. “Typically, I do not begin a painting with a fixed idea; the methods and techniques used in the process of experimentation determine the final result."
